Friday 6:30-8:30pm
Leave Your Expectations at the Door: Let go of what you think you know and allow
yourself to put faith and trust in your teacher and your daily yoga practice. Guruji always told us
to practice, practice, practice and all will come. Let’s explore this concept, this truth! If we can
find safety on our yoga mat, with our yoga teacher, and ourselves, the benefits can spill into all
areas of our lives. Suitable for all levels.   $35

Saturday 9-11am
Guided Primary Series:
Ashtanga Primary Series - Yoga Chikitsa (Yoga Therapy): This traditional sanskrit counted
class will explore the fundamentals of the Ashtanga Yoga Method in a led/guided classroom
setting.: The Vinyasa system, expanding the breath, and the principles of the bandhas and drishti.
Experience continuous movement with breathe learning the harmonious flow of the first series in
its traditional form. Primary Series will cover the Sun Salutation, standing postures, seated
postures and all finishing postures from the Ashtanga Yoga tradition. This class is recommended
for those already exposed to Ashtanga Yoga practice.$35

Saturday 12-2pm
BBDO: Breath, Bandhas, Dristi, and Opposition.
Let’s explore the use of breath, bandhas, dristhi and opposition of force in our
practice. In order to successfully progress in our practice, we must have full control of all four
concepts. But how? Spend the afternoon with Krista exploring these concepts in depth, and
learning how to apply them in each and every asana in the primary series. Serious work and
some serious fun! Suitable for all cartoon porn levels.  $40

Sunday 8-10am
Mysore:
“Mysore style” is traditionally practiced silently, with individual instruction, and is
named after Mysore, India, where Ashtanga yoga originated and was taught by Sri K Pattabhi
Jois for many years. Anyone is welcome to come to this class. Students will work at their own
pace, according to his or her individual needs, while Krista walks around the room providing
hands on adjustments and verbal instruction as needed. Going forward, If you do not have the primary series
memorized, you will spend your first few weeks in class repeating bits of the standing sequence
until it is committed to memory. At that point, you will come in daily, do your sun salutations,
standing postures, seated postures and finishing postures on your own, under the guidance of
your teacher. Mysore style is the absolute best way to learn and practice Yoga. It enables you to
create a dedicated, daily practice that will take you infinitely deeper into the peace and calm a
quiet mind and strong body can provide.
Ashtanga Yoga, done daily, will increase flexibility, strength, endurance, and physical and mental
balance; it will cleanse the internal systems of the body and provide a healthy source of focus
and dedication in ones life – something everyone needs! $40


Sunday 11am-1pm
Understanding your back:
Spend the afternoon with Krista digging deep into your waist, your back and your heart.
Understanding the emotional and physiological connection to backbending can help you
infinitely deepen your physical understanding of backbending. Utilizing various back bends
from the Ashtanga series’ we will explore the use of the waist, the heart and the spine in back
bends and look into how emotions help or hinder our growth. Leave this session with a new
found love of back bends, a new appreciation of our own ‘perceived’ limitations, and tools to
take your practice to a new level .$40

About Krista:  

Krista Shirley is a dedicated student and practitioner of traditional Ashtanga yoga.  She is an Authorized Level 2 teacher in the Ashtanga tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. She was introduced to this practice over ten years ago and immediately embraced it as a daily part of her life because she was magnetically drawn to the healing this practice provides. For the last eleven years Krista has rolled her mat out each day because it is such an intrinsic part of who she is. Ashtanga Yoga has given Krista health and wellness, comfort, stability, peace, mindfulness and an outlet to work on herself and help others. 

Krista began making yearly, long term, visits to Mysore, India in 2006 to study with the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Guruji, in order to fully connect to this lineage and embrace and surrender to a teacher that could help facilitate her growth and provide a deep source of inspiration. Since Guruji’s passing in 2009 Krista continues to make the yearly pilgrimage to India to study with Guruji’s grandson R. Sharath Jois who has dedicated his life continuing the work of Guruji, ensuring this deeply rich lineage, this parampara, lives on in the name of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. 

Krista’s dedication to her personal yoga practice and the Ashtanga lineage shine through in her teaching. Her energy is contagious and inspiring because she lives this yoga daily and experiences tremendous fulfillment in helping people find and deepen their growth in this practice. Krista continues her trips to Mysore each year because she believes it is very important all students have a teacher, a guide, to aid and inspire along the path. In 2010 she traveled to Mysore six months pregnant, and in 2012 and 2013 she took her year old little boy to Mysore with her. She has made eight trips to Mysore, India to continue her own studies and spent over twenty three months of her life studying at the Krishna Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India. 

Krista is a level 2 authorized Ashtanga teacher and founder of The Yoga Shala in Winter Park, Florida where she teaches traditional Ashtanga yoga classes in the Mysore method. Originally from South Carolina, Krista resides in Florida with her son, Kaiden.

Reservation/Cancellation/Refund Policy for Events & Workshops (held at studio)

You must pre-pay in full to reserve your spot; reservations will not be taken without payment.

Cancellations will be accepted up to 14 days prior to the workshop for a full refund less 10%.  No refunds or credits after that --with the following exception-- the event sells out and we can fill your spot, in which case you will receive the amount you paid less 20%.

Wondering why we don't give full refunds closer to the date?
Simple. If we stop selling spots, in order to hold your place, and then you don't attend,  that is lost income because we have turned away another attendee in order to honor our commitment to you. Our presenters have costs and minimums that we must cover in order to host them  and those expenses are bullt into the pricing and attendance level of each event.
If you are traveling to be with us, please carefully consider booking refundable flights and hotel rooms, as we do not cover those in the event you cannot come, or the very, very rare event that the presenter cancels an event.
